More About the 2023 B.C.V. LES CENT RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY PINOT NOIR WINERY NOTES: The 2023 Les Cent - literally, the one hundred in reference to 100% stem inclusion - represents the most comprehensive expression of this eastern facing slope on the Laguna Ridge, perched high above the Russian River watershed. A true reflection of our modern aspirations, the wines offers a core of lean, bracing acidity, ample aromatics, and complex fruit. VINEYARD NOTES This 12-acre vineyard is comprised of six different pinot noir clones grown in highly regarded Goldridge soil. The largest section of the vineyard, which slopes down toward the Santa Rosa Laguna is planted with notable Dijon clones including 667, 777, 115, 828, and 943. Les Cent is comprised entirely of the ethereal and complex 667 block. VINTAGE NOTES A winter abundant in rain and cool temperatures led to late budbreak and a temperate spring. Moderate temperatures throughout the summer, with few heat spikes allowed for even ripening with higher-than-average yields. This long growing season resulted in ideal phenolic ripeness, with the fruit retaining its natural acidity, while developing incredible concentration. WINEMAKING NOTES The clone 667 selection was fermented in a single open-top stainless-steel vessel. Gentle punch-downs followed with a brief maceration period. Maintained at moderate temperatures until dry, basket-pressed, and racked to 22% new French oak barrels for 12 months. TASTING NOTES Wild and fresh, with dark cherry and tart raspberry on a core of pomegranate and fresh ground baking spices. Supple and taut, with pure red fruits, and silky layers of orange peel, herbs, and black tea. Focused, with refined tannins over vibrant acidity with an elegant finish.
