Vosne-Romanée occupies one of the most celebrated stretches of the Côte de Nuits, and Faiveley approaches the appellation with unusually close control for a wine outside its estate holdings. The family has been rooted in Burgundy since 1825, now spanning seven generations, with a philosophy centered on preserving the identity of individual Burgundian terroirs. For this Vosne-Romanée, Faiveley oversees the work in the vineyard itself, giving the domaine control over grape quality much as it has in vineyards it owns. Domaine Faiveley The vines grow on chalky marl soils with east and southeast exposure, conditions Faiveley associates with the silky texture and finesse for which Vosne-Romanée is known. The vineyard was farmed organically in 2024, with formal organic certification beginning with the 2025 vintage. The season itself was cool and unusually wet through spring, followed by drier, sunnier weather in July and August that allowed the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly. A warm north wind in mid-September helped concentrate the grapes just ahead of harvest. Salsify Images The 2024 is 100% Pinot Noir, matured for 14 to 16 months in French oak, with roughly one-third new barrels. Faiveley describes the wine as supple and fruit-driven on entry, with fine tannins, good volume, and the balance and length expected from Vosne-Romanée. It is a measured expression of the appellation, shaped by a cool vintage, careful vineyard control, and a restrained oak program designed to support rather than obscure the character of the site.
