Fifty years of Duckhorn leads directly to Oakville in this bottle. The 2023 50th Anniversary release continues the Bordeaux-variety tradition central to the winery since 1976, focusing entirely on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa’s Oakville AVA. The critics responded accordingly: 96 points from Decanter and 95 from James Suckling. The lack of extremes gave 2023 an unusually long, measured growing season. A wet winter delayed the start, cooler conditions slowed development, and a moderate summer allowed the fruit more time on the vine. Duckhorn credits that steady progression with producing reds marked by purity, balance, and vibrancy.  The élevage is just as measured. The Cabernet spends 16 months in French oak, 65% new, building depth and structure while preserving the freshness of the vintage. For a wine created to mark 50 years of Duckhorn, the approach feels exactly right: serious, polished, and confidently restrained.
