Wine Enthusiast

"A vibrant salmon hue, this bursts with strawberries and cream, watermelon and floral aromas, fringed with yeastier characters. There's a lovely lightness and delicacy to the palate. It's bone dry with quite racy acidity, but enough slippery, silky fruit weight to balance. 2019 won't go down as the best vintage in England (nor was it the worst). In spite of the challenges, Gusbourne has produced a delicious rosé bubbles."

Decanter

"Hints of grassy freshness open up to red apple, red cherry sweetness, and toasty creaminess. The palate features red berry fruits and red apple peel with zesty blood orange, bitter almonds, and a touch of caramel, hinting at development. For the 2019 vintage Rosé, a small percentage of barrel-aged red wine was blended before the second fermentation. It was then followed by 36 months of lees ageing and finished with 8.2g/l of dosage."

About This Wine

More about the 2019 GUSBOURNE ENGLAND SPARKLING ROSÉ: The 2019 Gusbourne Sparkling Rosé is a graceful expression of England’s emerging identity as a world-class sparkling wine region, crafted with intention and delicacy. Made predominantly from Pinot Noir, with smaller proportions of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, the fruit is sourced from Gusbourne’s estate vineyards in Kent and West Sussex—areas blessed with south-facing slopes and ancient clay and chalk soils that mirror those found in Champagne. The cool maritime climate brings vibrant acidity and extended ripening, allowing the grapes to develop nuance and purity. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel, with a small portion in old oak barrels to introduce textural depth and complexity. From the glass, the 2019 Rosé glows with a soft coral hue, releasing aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, white peach, and citrus zest. Subtle hints of brioche, almond skin, and crushed rose petal lend elegance and dimension. The palate is finely textured, carried by a delicate mousse and bright, linear acidity. Notes of raspberry, blood orange, and tart cranberry unfold over a chalky, mineral spine, finishing with precision and lift. The wine spent a minimum of 22 months on lees, building creaminess and layering without compromising its freshness. What distinguishes this rosé is its poise—it walks the line between fruit and finesse, offering generosity without losing its edge. The 2019 vintage is particularly focused, showcasing the house’s commitment to producing wines that are not just technically beautiful but emotionally resonant. It’s a sparkling rosé that feels honest and elevated, capturing the soft light and cool breezes of the English countryside in every glass. For those seeking elegance with a pulse, this wine delivers with quiet confidence.
