Founded by Bill and Dawnine Dyer, the winery embodies the essence of this coveted terroir. Dawnine, a luminary in Napa’s sparkling wine scene, played a pivotal role in establishing Domaine Chandon's reputation. Bill's extensive career at Sterling Vineyards, culminating in his appointment as Winemaker in 1985, instilled in him a profound appreciation for the unique character of individual vineyard sites. Planted in 1993, Dyer Vineyard adheres to sustainable farming practices, including the rigorous discipline of dry farming. This method compels vines to delve deep into the earth for sustenance, producing grapes of extraordinary concentration, depth, and complexity. The Dyers consider the 2019 vintage one of the most exceptional in their nearly five decades of Napa Valley experience. Our Dyer Vineyard Cabernets are always a study in terroir but vintage variations have become increasingly important as growing seasons have become more extreme (note the missing 2020 and the very small 2021). We now celebrate each individual vintage with new respect and gratitude. In our Diamond Mountain vineyard 2019 yeilded wines of generous fruit, ripe plush tannins all finished with a now familiar savory polish. The 2019 Dyer Vineyard Diamond Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is an expressive version of our Cabernet blend- richly aromatic with currents, plums, hint of violets and savory notes of cedar.
