2017 MASTERY NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON "Mastery 2017 is one of the biggest and richest we’ve produced. It begins with a voluminous nose of muddled blueberries, red currants, violets, wet slate, butterscotch, vanilla bean, and fresh sage. The palate is rich and opulent, with a powerful blend of mixed wild berries, blackberry cobbler, cassis, and liquid minerals, all seamlessly wrapped in a compact, concentrated style. The mouthfeel is provocative, supple, and sexy, with a creamy, smooth, mouth-filling texture. It finishes intense, elegant, and very long. I’ve never lined up every vintage of Mastery to taste all at once, but this vintage would easily be at the very top of the list."
