Goldeneye was founded in Anderson Valley in 1996 around a singular focus on cool-climate Pinot Noir, and the North Coast Brut Rosé extends that expertise into sparkling wine. Introduced in 2021, it brings together Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier grown in cool-climate vineyards across Sonoma, Solano, and Mendocino counties. The broader North Coast sourcing gives Goldeneye access to the combination sparkling wine requires: ripe fruit, naturally bright acidity, and the freshness created by Northern California’s strongest coastal influences. The wine is made by the traditional method, with its secondary fermentation taking place in bottle, followed by **26 months en tirage**. That extended contact with the lees adds texture and complexity while preserving the freshness at the center of the wine. Goldeneye describes the three varieties as playing distinct roles in the blend: Pinot Noir contributes body, structure, and complexity; Chardonnay brings brightness, freshness, minerality, and elegance; and Pinot Meunier adds floral aromatics and richer fruit character. The finished Brut Rosé opens with apricot, honeysuckle, lemon peel, and brioche, followed by fresh strawberry, Bing cherry, and orange. A soft, creamy texture and supple mousse give the wine breadth, while its acidity carries everything through a bright, lingering finish. It is a natural extension of Goldeneye’s cool-climate identity, combining the house’s long relationship with Pinot Noir with the patience and precision of traditional-method sparkling wine.
