Matthew Wallace’s 2024 The Estate is a Cabernet Sauvignon assembled by taste and grounded in farming. Thomas Rivers Brown works through barrels drawn from Matt Hardin’s vineyard holdings, selecting across blocks and clones to build the final wine each vintage. Behind those barrels is a grower whose family has farmed Napa for six generations, giving Brown an unusually deep bench of Cabernet to work with. Wallace Ranch provides the backbone, with additional fruit drawn from across Hardin’s broader vineyard holdings. Each component is vinified alongside Matthew Wallace’s single-vineyard wines before the final selection is made. The result is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon built from a broad range of parcels, with the flexibility to capture more than one corner of Napa Valley.  Hardin describes The Estate as balancing the depth and liveliness of Napa Cabernet with genuine everyday drinkability. Each vintage becomes a snapshot of the growing season through Hardin and Brown’s combined lens. At $65, that is the real appeal: serious farming, exquisite winemaking, and a Napa Cabernet priced to be opened rather than saved for someday.
