Mon Premier’s 2023 Vent À Vin comes from a winemaker who spent more than 20 years in the Marine Corps before turning to wine. Mark Gamache brought that same discipline and operational focus into the cellar, using military leave to work harvests at Moshin Vineyards from 2018 through 2022. When he retired from the Marines in 2023, winemaking became his full-time mission. The vineyard choice is every bit as deliberate. The fruit comes from Morris Ranch Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap, a windswept site Mark gives this fruit plenty of time in the cellar. The 2023 spent 18 months in French oak, 50% new, building texture and spice around the vineyard’s natural energy.  Vent À Vin shows just how quickly that experience has translated into the glass. There is freshness, structure, and enough depth to keep the wine moving well beyond the first sip. For a young project, this is an impressively composed Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir and exactly the kind of bottle that makes us want to see what Mark does next.
