The eastern slopes of Eisele Vineyard tell a different story from the rest of the estate. Younger volcanic soils there consistently deliver Cabernet with broader shoulders and a more generous expression. After years of studying these distinctions, the team chose not to dilute them. They bottled that character on its own as Altagracia. Eisele itself carries one of Napa Valley’s deepest pedigrees. First planted in the 1880s and later celebrated worldwide as Araujo Estate, it ranks among the valley’s greatest Cabernet sites. In 2013, François Pinault’s Artémis Domaines, owners of First Growth Château Latour, acquired the property and made Eisele the first Napa vineyard to enter a Bordeaux First Growth portfolio. The new stewards left its singular character intact rather than impose a new vision. The 2023 Altagracia captures that eastern power while retaining the precision and freshness that define the whole estate. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it has earned scores as high as 96 points and is built for decades of cellaring. It delivers one of Napa’s most iconic vineyard experiences at a fraction of the $650 price of Eisele’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon.
