2020 VIK MILLA CALA MILLAHUE VALLEY RED Alex and Carrie Vik established VIK Winery in the rolling foothills of the Andes Mountains after nearly two and a half years of scientific research seeking out the ideal terroir. After their extensive search, they finally discovered the prime planting location in the Millahue Valley, in a secluded pocket known as “Lugar de Oro” or “Golden Place” by the native Mapuche people. The vines are strategically planted across twelve undulating valleys, each characterized by diverse microclimates, all of which benefit from the cooling influences of Pacific coastal breezes and winds from the Andes Mountains. Milla Cala is a profound tribute to the harmonious blend of Old World traditions and New World innovation, seamlessly integrating the natural environment with human craftsmanship. The vineyards are meticulously tended, with a focus on hand-harvesting and fermentation using natural yeasts, contributing to its distinctive house style.
