Proprietor Randy Wulff relocated near our shop after losing his home in the Atlas Fire, and it was through that connection that we came to know his wines. What stood out immediately was their authenticity: expressive, generous, and deeply rooted in place. The 2014 Atlas Peak Cabernet Sauvignon captures that spirit, offering a style that is supple and approachable, yet firmly grounded by the rocky, mineral-driven character that defines the appellation. The winery’s flagship Atlas Peak Estate Cabernet is drawn from Wulff’s former home vineyard, perched at approximately 1,350 feet in elevation on the slopes of Atlas Peak. Planted in volcanic, rock-strewn soils, the vineyard benefits from tight vine spacing that encourages natural struggle, limiting vigor and concentrating flavor. These conditions yield fruit of depth and intensity, shaped as much by elevation and soil as by the long growing season typical of this mountainous site. Aged for 24 months in oak barrels, the 2014 vintage is drinking beautifully today, its structure fully integrated and its mountain character clearly defined. The wine moves with precision and balance, revealing layered complexity without heaviness.
