2015 SCHOOL HOUSE MESCOLANZA ZINFANDEL BLEND, SPRING MOUNTAIN
$45.00 $45.00
If you’ve enjoyed California Zinfandel Blends, you’ve likely heard the term Mixed Blacks which is essentially a field blend that was common in California in the late 1800’s. Mixed Blacks is what inspired the popular The Prisoner wine, which by contrast is not a field blend, but a collection of unique grapes. It was also common in the Southern Rhone Valley as well as parts of Portugal with both Port wines and Dry Reds. School House is a tiny producer on Spring Mountain and their Mescolanaza Zinfandel Blend comes from a single block of their Estate Vineyard. The vineyard block is planted primarily to Zinfandel along with Petite Sirah and Carignane vines. The winery subscribes to the philosophy that 90% of the wine is made in the vineyard, and one sip of their 2015 Mescolanaza will show you why.
The School House Estate was originally planted in the 1890’s with their first vintage in 1957, and the winery has produced every year since. The current releases were made at Pride Mountain winery just up the road. The 2015 shows off intense savory notes, earthy spices and focused fruit, and at under fifty per bottle this wine will simply make you grin. With 185 cases produced, don’t to hesitate to secure yours…

Winery Notes: "The wine produced is elegant, spicy, full bodied and with excellent nose. It is a BIG, robust wine but with balanced acidity that makes it a perfect pairing with rich, well-flavored foods. It will age well..." 185 cases were produced
