2013 J. RICKARDS “ANCESTOR SELECTIONS” ZINFANDEL

$28.00 $21.99 $21.99

This value-centered Zinfandel was carved from a hillside vineyard, planted to cuttings from the winery’s flagship 1908 Brignole Vineyard as well as carefully selected, old vine sites throughout Alexander Valley. Showcasing the colorful, complex and multi-dimensional character that historic “field blends” are notorious for… It’s also a fantastic value, especially with ground shipping included on case purchases.

Predominantly Zinfandel, accented by Petite Sirah, Carignan and other varietals, the 2013 Ancestor Series spent 21 months in oak and benefited from more than a year developing in the bottle. With a total production of 8 barrels, this micro-produced field blend is delicious and will likely be one of the first bottles emptied at any occasion that you serve it.

Description

2013 J. RICKARDS “ANCESTOR SELECTIONS” ZINFANDEL

Winery Notes: “The grapes for our Ancestor Selections Zinfandel were all picked at the same time and co-fermented in the classic field-blend style of the early 1900’s and then aged in French and American oak barrels for 21 months.  This wine is a classic Alexander Valley Zinfandel, with aromas of black cherry, licorice and white pepper.  It is well structured on the palate, with rich favors of plum and boysenberry.  An extended -finish of toasty vanilla oak perfectly rounds out the wine.”
