BLACK KITE
2013 PINOT NOIR
SONOMA COAST
Your Price:Â $39.99/btl
My #1 pick this year... and an indisputable favorite poured by-the-glass in Yountville, Black Kite is one of California's rising star Pinot producers, whom the Pinot Report alerted readers has "burst on the scene with outstanding wines." It was authored by Jeff Gaffner, who is responsible for making the renowned 1996 Chateau St. Jean Cinq Cépages, which was the Wine Spectator's #1 wine of the year. There were only 8 barrels of this striking Pinot produced...  The fruit for their Sonoma Coast Pinot came from the famed Glass House Vineyard located in the wind-swept Petaluma Gap AVA. Black Kite previously made a single vineyard Pinot from Glass House which retailed for $60.  This is the same fruit, but since Black Kite lost the vineyard source for future vintages, they declassified this juice, making it an incredible value.
