2012 MEYER FAMILY, OAKVILLE “SPITFIRE” CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Originating from the Oakville AVA of Napa Valley, widely considered the epicenter of “Grand Cru” quality Cabernet Sauvignon!  Sourced from two Oakville Vineyards, including younger vines from the legendary “Bonny’s Vineyard”… (Silver Oak produced a single vineyard wine from Bonny’s Vyd from ’79 to ’91).

Meyer’s “Spitfire” is a fraction of the price of most of Oakville’s Cabernets…  With much of the fruit sourced from Bonny’s Vineyard, which was planted in 1974 by Justin Meyer.   This famous 4 acre vineyard is located adjacent to the Groth Reserve Vineyard. California’s first 100 point wine, rated by Robert Parker, was the Groth Reserve…

The winery was founded in the 1980’s by Wine Country Icon Justin Meyer.   Justin co-founded Silver Oak Cellars… Justin’s son Matt continues his father’s legacy producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon!

Description

2012 MEYER FAMILY, OAKVILLE “SPITFIRE” CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Winery Notes: “The 2012 Spitfire is a good old American Cabernet that is polished and elegant. The aromas spring to life with ripe plum and blackberries jumping out of the glass. Once open for a few minutes, we start to see the telltale American Oak vanilla along with hints of caramel and pepper. Two years in oak have softened the palate, making this a very approachable Oakville red wine. As with previous vintages we get hints of cardamom and other savory characters…”
