2013 SELENE “HYDE VINEYARD” SAUVIGNON BLANC, CARNEROS

A brilliant interpretation of California Sauvignon Blanc, crafted by legendary winemaker Mia Klein, whose track record includes making wines for Dalla Valle, Spottswoode, Araujo, Viader, and Chappellet.  Named Winemaker of the Year by Food & Wine Magazine, Mia’s maiden vintage of her Hyde Sauvignon Blanc was 1992 and the wine has since become a benchmark for high-level, domestic Sauvignon Blanc.  In the glass, the wine is like a quiet girl who nevertheless has interesting thoughts which she lets out gradually…  Pure and focused flavors of honeydew melons, caramelized citrus, Bosc pear and white peach unwind methodically and with great precision.

Coming from Larry Hyde’s renowned Carneros Vineyard, Hyde Vineyard fruit has attracted several top wineries, including, Kistler, Aubert, and Paul Hobbs to list a few.  This 100% Sauvignon Blanc is Musqué Clone, which is well-known for its superb, uplifted aromatics.  A combination of partial barrel fermentation in conjunction with stainless steel tank adds to the terrific complexity and delicious texture of this wine.   I highly recommend a case, while supplies last.
