FATHER JOHN 1908 MMXX
$55.00 $55.00
Father John 1908 MMXX is genuinely unique and was made initially as a house-wine for themselves. Still, the vineyard components and craftsmanship were so high that they ultimately decided to bottle a small amount for others. The blend is primarily Pinot Noir and includes Carignan from a vineyard planted in 1908. The fruit spans several outstanding vintages and encompasses some of the top Estates in Mendocino, including Comptche and Greenwood Ridge. They made this wine in a deliciously easy-drinking style that’s impeccably balanced, long, complex, and wildly compelling.
With a winemaking style heavily-influenced by the French, proprietor Nicholas Maloney learned his techniques while making wine in Margaux, Nuits-saint-Georges, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Chablis. His wines are highly-balanced, terroir-expressive, lower in alcohol, and suited to accompany fine cuisine.
Nicholas sources from maritime-influenced vineyards, and he utilizes whole-cluster fermentation for increased depth and structure. He gently crushes the grapes by foot, which can result in smoother flavors. If you love the Pinot Noir grape and want to try something compelling and unique, this one is for you.
