2020 WALTER HANSEL NORTH SLOPE PINOT NOIR

Throughout the 1980s, Walter Hansel and his son Stephen made a few barrels of wine from a small plot they planted themselves in the Russian River Valley. By the mid-1990s, Stephen’s friend Tom Rochioli helped Stephen understand the role of the vines in the vineyard and how to translate that into fantastic wines, leading to decades of stellar reviews and devoted followers.

They planted The North Slope Vineyard with 100% French Pinot Noir clone 115, known for its fruit-driven flavors, making it a divine match for the Russian River Valley. Wines from Walter Hansel always show a consistency of quality that outshines the vast majority in their price category, and the 2020 Pinot Noir is no exception.
