Josh Jensen’s vision for Calera is to produce wines with a definitive sense of place. His mentors in Burgundy were adamant that world-class Pinot Noir needs to be grown in limestone-rich soils, similar to Burgundy’s Côtes d’Or. After years of searching, he found the perfect spot on Mt Harlan. His single plot Jensen Vineyard was planted in 1975, and Pinot Noir from this site balances power and elegance, which is a common trait in some of the world’s greatest wines. With a near-perfect 99 point score, I highly recommend adding some of this to your cellar.
