2015 MONTES ALPHA “ACONCAGUA COAST” PINOT NOIR
Absolutely intriguing to swirl and sniff… Montes Alpha’s high-scoring Pinot Noir from the Aconcagua Coast of Chile, unleashes a full panoply of aromas, thrusting off ripe cherries, violets, dried rose petals, incense and blood orange your way. With no shortage of energy and tension on the palate, a wonderful thread of bright acidity helps usher a parade of vibrant, penetrating fruit. An ideal Chilean Pinot Noir, the 2015 has already caught the eye of renowned critic James Suckling, who gave this beauty 94 Points… At $17.99/btl, we don’t expect this vintage to be available for long.
Fashioned from vineyards located in Chile’s Casablanca and Zapallar Valleys, which contrast beautifully in this abundantly complex Pinot Noir. Grown in clay and granitic soils, both sites benefit from maritime influences that contribute to the wine’s unique minerality. Crafted in the winery’s state-of-the-art winemaking facility, this wine was aged in oak for 10 months, and the 2015 is really starting to blossom now and should continue to develop and evolve over the next 5-7 years.
