This gorgeous Pinot Noir arose from vineyards located in the extreme Sonoma Coast, which in 2011, the area was approved as its own Appellation. The newly recognized Fort Ross Seaview AVA, is also a source for such notable wineries as, Peter Michael, Marcassin, Martinelli, Flowers & Pahlmeyer. The area’s steep, hillside vineyards range from 920-1800 feet in elevation, and overlook the Pacific Ocean where the cool, maritime influence helps bear fruit of exceptional qualities.
This generous, and endowed Pinot was composed by powerhouse winemaker Jeff Pisoni. Jeff also has his own label Pisoni, which retails for around $75/btl and often commands high 90’s scores… At under forty per bottle, Fort Ross is one of the best values from the entire Seaview Appellation, and this 2012 will hold its own with the best Pinots from this highly regarded area.
