2016 MARIMAR ESTATE DON MIGUEL VINEYARD SYRAH

Marimar Torres of the renowned Familia Torres winemaking family in Spain immersed herself in the wine business early, bringing an old-world, quality-minded approach to her Sonoma-based Marimar Estate. The winery, located in the coolest, foggiest part of the Russian River Valley, known as Green Valley, has an ideal microclimate for growing premium Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah.

The Don Miguel Vineyard is named after the late patriarch of the Torres family and planted in a European style with a high density of vines, creating more competition for nutrients, which promotes root propagation, and naturally reduces yields. Syrah thrives in the Green Valley, producing an exquisite style, much like the wines of the Northern Rhône. The 2016 vintage was aged in premium French oak from the Bertranges forest and scored 93 points from the Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine.
