Jacob Franklin Winery is laser-focused on crafting vineyard designate wines that paint a clear and powerful portrayal of their vintage and location. It’s a philosophy that brought them success for three decades at Elyse Winery, founded in 1987. The father-son team of Ray and Jake Coursen run the winery, and their Petite Sirah comes from the historic Hayne Vineyard. Turley made this site famous, and they’ve produced single-vineyard wines from it for more than two decades.
Ray Coursen carved out a reputation for producing exceptional value wines with a tremendous sense of place in the 30 years he spent at Elyse winery. Before Elyse, he held winemaker titles for wineries, including Whitehall Lane, Shifflet, Falcor, and several others.
Napa wine pioneers planted the Hayne Vineyard in the early 1900’s in excessively drained Cortina-loam soils on the Southwest edge of St Helena. The head-trained, organic, dry-farmed vines are some of the most sought after Petite Sirah vines in Napa Valley, and Jacob Franklin Winery gives them a voice in this exceptional wine.
