2019 ROCKY POND PROPRIETARY ROCK DOUBLE D VINEYARD COLUMBIA VALLEY RED BLEND

Proprietary Rock’s flagship Double D Vineyard, named after David Dufenhorst, the vineyard owner, is strategically located on the Columbia River in Orondo, Washington. The vineyard is one of the hottest sites in Washington, ensuring optimal ripeness of the grapes, but with an extreme diurnal temperature variation that brings necessary cooling effects, helping retain natural acidity.

After a long winter, the 2019 growing season got off to a slow start and delayed bud break, which decreased the risk of early spring frost damage. Later in the season, above-average temperatures in June got the grapes immediately back on track. This blend comprises equal parts Merlot and Malbec with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested in October and November, benefitting from an extended hang-time that aided in developing more profound and complex aromas and flavors – all for less than $30.
