2018 CROCKER & STARR AVA CABERNET FRANC BLEND
Crocker & Starr is where historic land meets legendary winemaking, fueled by a passion for Bordeaux varietals and creating exquisite wines that encapsulate power and balance. The winery’s Estate Vineyard, located in St Helena’s center, was initially planted by the Dowdell family in the 1870s, purchased by Charlie Crocker in the 1970s, and through a hand-shake deal between Charlie and Pam Starr, Crocker & Starr was born.
Winemaker Evyn Cameron, former oenologist at Cliff Lede, and founding winemaker Pam Starr, former winemaker at Spottswoode, created this wine highlighting Crocker Estate’s diverse terroir, guided by Cabernet Franc’s power and accentuated with equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petite Verdot. This pedigreed wine is ridiculously great at $58, and as Jeb Dunnuck writes, “this is another terrific value.”
