2016 CENYTH SONOMA COUNTY PROPRIETARY RED

If you’ve ever wondered if world-class winemaking could be passed down through genetics, take one sip of the 2016 Cenyth and you’ll have your answer.  When your dad is Pierre Seillan, world-renowned winemaker in both Bordeaux and California, and who’s responsible for an umpteen number of perfect 100 point wines at Verité, it doesn’t take much to catch the wine bug…  Hélène Seillan grew up in both Bordeaux and Sonoma County, and after earning a degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the Institut Rural de Vayres in Bordeaux, she’s quickly become a winemaker to watch.

It was impossible not to be reminded of Verité when tasting this wine.  Built around a core of focused high-toned red-fruits, the 2016 Cenyth has such a high level of definition and clarity, unfolding methodically on the palate with notes of tobacco leaf, pressed flowers, blue violets and vivid raspberry.  At under forty bucks you’ll feel like you stole something when you try this wine…
