2014 QUILCEDA CREEK “CVR” PROPRIETARY RED

Appearing on the Wine Spectator Top 100 list on five separate occasions… Quilceda Creek’s iconic Cabernet Sauvignon helped put Washington’s Columbia Valley AVA on the map.  With scores so high, double digits couldn’t quite reflect them…  Their tightly allocated Columbia Valley Cabernet retails for well over $200/btl.  At under $100/btl their CVR Cabernet Blend had our entire tasting panel in awe over it’s decadent texture, slowly giving way to a vivid display of crushed violets, black plum, chocolate dipped raspberries and pen ink.  Dangerously hedonistic on the palate, Quilceda Creek’s 2014 CVR blend literally has everything that I look for in an upper-echelon Cabernet Blend, and our allocation of the 2014 likely won’t be enough to satisfy demand.

Checking in as a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec, this remarkable achievement spent an impressive 20 months in French oak barrels before bottling.  Combining components from Champoux, Palengat, Tapteil, and Wallula Gap Vineyards, the 2014 CVR is exhilarating to swirl and taste.   I strongly recommend securing a case, while supplies last.
