2014 J. BOOKWALTER “SUBPLOT No. 31” PROPRIETARY RED

One of Washington’s oldest and most iconic wineries, I found it nearly impossible to resist the urge to smile while enjoying this fun-filled and generously endowed blend.  Everything from its vibrant purple color and elaborate aromas, that literally explode from the glass, forecasting the wine’s gorgeously rich, pure flavors, layered by sweet tannins, violets, creme de cassis and wild berries.  The blend encompasses several small lots, chosen for their individual contributing character, after the winery completes their final blends for their top-tier wines, which retail for around $45-$60/btl…  At $19.99 the Subplot No. 31 defines value.

An expert at layering multiple vineyards and varietals, renowned winemaker Caleb Foster sourced fruit for Subplot 31 from Connor Lee and Sagemoore Vineyards in Columbia Valley and Elephant Mountain Vineyard in Yakima.  Each specific site adding its own distinctive stamp of complex nuances, textures and aromas to the final blend, and at under twenty per bottle this wine performs significantly above its price point… I strongly recommend a case, you can thank me later.
