2014 ARIETTA “QUARTET” PROPRIETARY RED
Entering your palate with a cascade of beautifully delineated dark berries shadowed by intriguing black cherry, spices and cigar box. The phenomenal Arietta Quartet was composed by Andy Erickson who you may recall made Screaming Eagle from 2005-2010 producing two perfect 100 Point Wines. An irresistible blend encompassing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the 2014 is overflowing with potential, foreshadowing a striking elegance and stunning concentration.
Housed for 22 months in oak barrels, and with fruit sourced from Coombsville, Carneros and Calistoga AVAs, this is one of the most complex and deeply layered reds that I’ve tasted all year. With Arietta’s pedigreed winemaking and carefully chosen vineyard sources, this unforgettable blend will most certainly leave a long lasting impression. I’m predicting big scores again with this vintage, and as a great friend and mentor to me in the wine business would frequently say in similar situations, “don’t wait to read about this one in the obituaries…”

2014 ARIETTA "QUARTET" PROPRIETARY RED
Winery Notes: "... a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot, shows energy, brightness, and core strength. Its vibrant red-purple hue and remarkable density reveal the wines inherent power. It is aromatically fresh and expressive, while still maintaining a precision and focus. Red cherry, raspberry, and just-picked blackberry are at the forefront when the wine is first poured. Notes of black licorice, cinnamon, and dark chocolate mark the palate, along with red and black fruit flavors. The vintage is evident in the wine s generous acidity, which punctuates the many layers of fruit and spice in the wine, and adds to its overall structure and ageablity. This Quartet, while certainly very enjoyable now, will age for 15-20 years..."
