2013 LATERAL “NAPA VALLEY” PROPRIETARY RED
Inspired by St. Emilion wines in the heart of Bordeaux, France, this beautifully proportioned Napa Valley blend was crafted by winemaker Marty Mathis. You might recognize Marty from producing his high-scoring Kathryn Kennedy wines… Emerging from carefully sought out vineyards, primarily located in Coombsville, Carneros and Yountville, this is a perfect example of just how inspiring Right Bank influenced blends from Napa Valley can be. Showing terrific delineation, opulence and focus, the wine’s abundant spice box, black cherries, cassis and caramel leave a lasting impression.
A thrilling merger of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this stunningly intense blend spends 18 months in oak and a full year in the bottle before release. An intense perfume of violets, black raspberry, dark chocolate and cassis alert your senses to a tightly coiled core of opulent, wonderfully hedonistic flavors. This wine is really singing now and promises another decade of sheer enjoyment.

Winery Notes: "Harmonious, open and gentle nose with inviting and deep aroma of warm cocoa, sweet fruit showcasing themes of cherry chocolate vanilla. Very complex aromas smelling of a modern Napa Valley wine all the while offering a unique right bank Bordeaux personality. Moderately plush entry but retaining good freshness. 2013 LATERAL Better than average acidity for Napa Valley, with red cherries, mild oak wood flavors followed seamlessly by a long, bright and fruit driven finish."
