2011 PRESCOTT ASHE “THE PALACE” PROPRIETARY RED, OAKVILLE
From a neighborhood that averages north of $100/btl, this Oakville Proprietary Blend, which happens to be 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, is a low price of admission to taste a wine from an area considered by many to produce the quintessence for “Grand Cru” quality Cabernet Sauvignon. When we offered Prescott Ashe’s 2009 Reserve Cabernet a couple weeks ago we sold out in just 7 hours. 2011 is the final vintage from Prescott Ashe, and with the brand no longer in existence, this will likely be the last chance to acquire this unforgettable Cabernet Blend.
Composed by one of Napa’s most famous cult winemakers. In 2011 the winery did not produce their Reserve level Cabernet Sauvignon, but instead, put all of their Reserve barrels into this stunning Oakville Blend. Cabernet Sauvignon makes up the lion’s share of the blend at 83%, complemented by 7% Malbec, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Merlot. After 21 months in Oak, and nearly 3 years in the bottle, this wine is really starting to sing.
