2020 CAMILLE CAYRAN CAIRANNE GRANDE RESERVE RHONE VALLEY
Cave de Cairanne was founded in 1929 on the left bank of the Rhône River near the older and more well-known appellations Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, and Vacqueyras. Officials promoted the Cairanne AOC from Côtes-du-Rhône Villages AOC to having a singular, separate appellation in 2016, making it Southern Rhône’s newest AVA.
The region’s reds must comprise a minimum of 50% Grenache with 20% Syrah or Mourvèdre, and small amounts of other approved Chateauneuf-du-Pape varieties are also allowed. The 2020 Camille Cayran La Grande Réserve comes from predominately old vines planted on gently sloping, stony clay-limestone hillsides with a perfect amount of sun exposure and drainage to attain the highest levels of fruit quality to create beautifully splendid wines.
