2019 CHÂTEAU DU CÈDRE EXTRA LIBRE CAHORS MALBEC
$25.00 $25.00
Château du Cèdre is a family-run estate in Cahors AOC, the birthplace of Malbec, located in Southwestern France and made famous by the production of bold, age-worthy Malbec-based wines. The winery eliminated the use of chemicals in 1992, emphasizing sustainable practices and minimal intervention in the vineyards and the cellar to produce naturally vibrant wines with undeniable character.
The grapes for Extra Libre were hand-harvested from vines between 15 and 30 years of age, fermented in concrete tanks, and aged 12 months in large, used barrels that bring out the vibrant fruit character of Malbec. The 2019 vintage is a classic Cahors blend of 90% Malbec, 5% Merlot, and 5% Tannat with a structural integrity and flavor intensity to cellar for a few years, gaining an earthy complexity but can be thoroughly enjoyed upon release.
