2017 CAPEZZANA VILLA DI CAPEZZANA CARMIGNANO
Tenuta di Capezzana is one of Tuscany’s oldest wineries, producing wine for over 1200 years, representing one of the first creators of Super Tuscan wines after bringing in Cabernet Sauvignon cuttings from Lafite Rothschild. The estate’s current owners are the fourth and fifth generation of the Bonacossi family, who obtained the property in 1920, producing their flagship wine, Villa di Cappezzana since 1925.
The blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic style similar to that of the legendary Tignanello, reminiscent of a sumptuous Left Bank Bordeaux with the rustic character of a Chianti Classico. This elegantly powerful wine scored 93 points from Decanter, offering substantial value considering the Carmignano DOC’s extensive winemaking history and prized terroir.
