2016 PODERE BRIZIO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO

Brunello di Montalcino was one of the first regions in Italy to receive DOCG status in 1966 and is one of the most sought-after Italian wines. Fifty years later, Brunello’s 2016 vintage ranks as one of the highest-rated vintages in the region’s history by the Wine Spectator, earning an overall vintage rating of 99 Points, noting a “Textbook growing season resulting in wines of finesse and elegance, balance and harmony.”

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG must be 100% Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello) and has the longest aging requirements in Italy, with a minimum of four years, two of which must be in oak. The 2016 Podere Brizio Brunello di Montalcino DOCG spent 38 months in large French oak barrels followed by six months in bottle before release, producing a super-smooth, refined wine with an unbelievable range of complexity, meriting a 96 Point score from the Wine Spectator.
