2016 ASPIRANT DE BEYCHEVELLE SAINT-JULIEN BORDEAUX

When it comes to Bordeaux’s most historic and revered producers, Beychevelle, which dates back to the 1500’s is one of the foremost.  The Estate was included on the historic 1855 Bordeaux Classification which to this day stands as the single most important wine classification in history.  In fact, in more than 160 years, they’ve only allowed 2 modifications to the list, and of the now approximately 6,000 wineries in Bordeaux only 61 are on it and considered Classified Growths… The winery itself is absolutely stunning, but it’s the vineyards that are centralized on two plateaus, planted in deep Garonne Gravel and a stones throw from the Gironde river that make this wine truly special.  At under $50, you have got to try this…

Situated between two other famous regions, Saint-Julien offers the power of Pauillac,  combined with the grace and elegance of Margaux, sharing traits from both iconic villages.  The 2016 Aspirant de Beychevelle is driven by a core 61% Cabernet Sauvignon and blended with 33% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc.  On the palate the wine is polished and elegant with concentrated red plums and freshly picked blackberries, ground coffee and white flowers.  The 2016 is unbelievably stunning right now and will cellar for two decades…
