2015 CVNE CUNE GRAN RESERVA RIOJA
More than 140 years ago, the Real de Asúa brothers founded the Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) winery in the Barrio de la Estación train station in the town of Haro. The first wine they produced earned the company’s initials, CVNE, but a simple spelling mistake on the label led to the creation of the Cune brand, recognized by wine lovers worldwide for over a century.
Now in their 5th generation of the same family ownership, grapes for the Cune Gran Reserva are specially selected and come primarily from their vineyard in Torrentalbo, a southeast-facing plot planted with vines of an average age of 45 years. After fermentation in concrete and stainless steel, the 2015 vintage was aged 24 months in French and American oak barrels, clarified and bottled, then laid down in the cellar for a minimum of 36 months before releasing this gently aged beauty.
