2014 MUNT ROCA PRIORAT
$30.00 $24.99 $24.99
From Spain’s other iconic wine region, Priorat is one of only two regions in Spain to qualify as DOCa, the highest qualification level set by Spanish wine regulations, along with Rioja. Located South of Barcelona, Priorat is known for producing bold, sophisticated Reds that often show copious mineral notes and subtle spice characters. The dominant grape in the region is Garnacha, which thrives in the warm climate and limestone rich soils. A beautiful introduction to the magic of Priorat, Munt Roca, which translates to Rock Pile comes finely threaded with wisps of Mediterranean spice and rocky minerals. Loaded with ripe cherry, plum and violets, the 2014 is stupendously great at $24.99/btl.
With each varietal individually fermented, the 2014 was kept for just 6 months in barrel, in order to preserve the wines bright acidity and focused fruit. A powerful, yet intricate blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 is classic Priorat, disseminating warm red and dark fruits that come laced with rock mineral, spices and floral. At $24.99/btl, I strongly recommend securing a case or two of this fun, full-flavored Red.
