2013 MATIAS RICCITELLI REPUBLICA DEL MALBEC, MENDOZA, ARGENTINA
$75.00 $75.00
Carved from Riccitelli’s oldest vineyard planted in 1908, the 2013 Matias Riccitelli Republica Del Malbec is darker than a moonless night, and erupts from the glass with concentrated ripe berries, fresh violets, mocha, and spices. The palate is full-bodied with a dense core of rich fruit, and finely threaded complexity that lets you know you’re drinking expensive wine… The wine is made by Matias Riccitelli whose father is the head-winemaker at Bodegas Norton, and was the first South American to ever be named Winemaker of the Year by Wine Enthusiast magazine. Matias worked harvests in New Zealand, Napa Valley, Europe and Australia before launching his brand, with a goal of creating a brand that would express the full potential of Argentine terroir.
Arising from ancient vines grown in the higher elevation sub-appellation of Vistalbain the Lujan de Cuyo region of Mendoza, this is the top wine produced by the Matias Riccitelli. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak, and now with around 5 years inside the bottle, this wine is absolutely rocking and promises another 5 years of enjoyment. If you love full-bodied, concentrated and hedonistic Reds, I wouldn’t hesitate long to secure your case.
