2012 CHÂTEAU CHANTELUNE MARGAUX
$44.99 $44.99
The first word that came to mind when I tasted Château Chantelune’s 2012 Margaux was velvet… Immediately following was how many cases of this classically styled Margaux can I get my hands on? Production of this wine varies from only around 400 to 800 cases each year, so by the time it makes the 5600 mile trip to California, there’s not much left… Margaux is often recognized for producing satiny, elegant wines with penetrating, yet velvety flavors and striking complexity. The best Margaux can easily top $1000/btl… Château Chantelune is an excellent value at under fifty per bottle and has already earned 90 Points in the Wine Spectator and 16/20 by Decanter.
Chantelune is an extraordinary parcel of 40-year-old vines, situated on the highest point in the appellation. The wine is carefully guided from grape to bottle by José Sanfins, who’s also the director at Château Cantenac Brown. Predominately Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2012 is round yet supple, penetrating yet velvety, opening up and gifting new nuances and impressions with aeration. With few cases imported, don’t wait too long to secure your case.

From The Wine Spectator, "Lovely plush plum and blackberry fruit is carried by a well-integrated cocoa note before giving way to ganache and black tea accents on the velvety finish. Nicely done. Drink now through 2020..." 90 Points
