2011 CHATEAU TRAPAUD “GRAND CRU” BORDEAUX, SAINT EMILION
$31.99 $31.99
Impeccably balanced with everything in just the right place… and at less than $40 per bottle, Château Trapaud’s 2011 Grand Cru St. Emilion represents a serious bargain from one of Bordeaux’s most desired regions. A deep, penetrating bouquet of muddled blackberries, graphite, wild mint and a subtle vein of fresh minerals awakens your senses, drawing you into this classic Bordeaux. Château Trapaud is positioned just a few hundred meters from Château Valandraud and a mere stone’s throw from the renowned Château Pavie, both of which retail for many times the price.
Easily the most concentrated Château Trapaud that I can remember, the 2011 blend checks in at 64% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, and although large in stature, the 2011 is perfectly controlled with remarkable layers and of fruit and extract. Housed for 12 months in oak, the 2011 spent 4 years developing in the bottle and is really starting to hit its stride… I strongly recommend a case, but take note, there’s not much of this brought in to the US.
