Often brighter, fresher, and more easy-drinking than Chablis, Petit Chablis vineyards top the slopes around the outer reaches of Chablis. The fundamental difference between the two similar appellations is the soils, where Petit Chablis is grown in slightly younger Portlandian soils originating from Southern England. Recognized for value, Petit Chablis is attractively light, piercingly crisp, and delectably fresh. When crafted by a talented producer like Jolly Et Fils, they merit your attention.
Located in Maligny, near Chablis, Domaine Jolly et Fils has produced quality Chablis for generations. Keenly focused on creating wines that are a true expression of the Kimmeridgian & Portlandian terroirs, winemaker Denis Jolly utilizes traditional techniques passed down for generations.
Grown in hard, brown Portlandian limestone soils on a high plateau, Domaine Jolly Et Fils Petit Chablis could be the poster child for Petit Chablis. Once harvested, the fruit is gently pressed and aged for 7-8 months on its lees, contributing to the wine’s body and acting as a counterpoint to the firm acidity and structure.
