2012 FREDERIC MAGNIEN “MONT de MILIEU” CHABLIS, 1er CRU
A finely chiseled, beautifully delineated Chablis, Frédéric Magnien Premier Cru Mont de Milieu is bursting with vivid fruit, intensified by an alliance of razor-sharp acidity and irresistible white peach, pear, slate and fresh lemon. Fifth generation winemaker Frédéric Magnien is producing truly high-level Chablis at very attractive prices. The Mont de Milieu Vineyard from which this beauty arose, lies close to Grand Cru vineyards, which can garner a much higher price.
The nearly 1/2 century old Chardonnay vines, grown on the right bank of the famous Serein River are producing fruit of otherworldly, majestic qualities. Alluring aromas lead to bright acidity and deep layers of fruit that blossom incrementally on the mid-palate and radiate throughout the long, extended finish. Resting for 1 year in a combination of stainless steel tank and oak barrels, greater enhancing the complex mouthfeel and bright fruit, this remarkable Premier Cru has developed for nearly 3 years in the bottle and is really hitting it’s stride. I strongly recommend a case.
