2019 BEAULIEU VINEYARDS GEORGES DE LATOUR PRIVATE RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON
André Tchelistcheff joined Beaulieu Vineyard in 1938; soon after, he tasted the family’s “personal” wine, which they called their Private Reserve, and insisted the Cabernet Sauvignon would become the winery’s flagship wine. Two years later, BV released the first bottling of the Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, celebrated today as Napa Valley’s first “Cult” Cabernet for over 80 years.
Today, André’s name is synonymous with winemaking prestige and brilliance, and the 2019 vintage made by Trevor Durling was recently awarded a 100-Point score from James Suckling and was #1 on his top 100 wines of the year. André coined the term “Rutherford dust” because of the unique aroma that gives the wine a provenance that only the elements of this site-specific terroir can create. And as a side note, Joel Aiken, who trained alongside André and made wine at BV for 27 years, is part of our weekly tasting panel providing invaluable insight.
