Faust’s winemakers forged The Pact Cabernet from the Estate’s most expressive vines located on an elevated bench where veins of volcanic ash permeate the soils, encouraging this wine’s signature minerality and forward intensity. Selected for its diversity of soil, elevation, and climate that’s cooler than most areas of Napa Valley, the property was developed by the Huneeus family, owners of Quintessa. This remarkable 2018 resulted from the culmination of their vision, work developing the land, and perfecting their winemaking, and is, as James Suckling writes, “Exceptional.”
Faust winemakers Jen Beloz and David Jelinek produced this masterpiece. Jen gained experience working under Joel Peterson at Ravenswood Winery before joining Huneeus and becoming the winemaker at Prisoner in 2011.
Created from the Estate’s highest-elevation blocks, the 2018 release is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, raised for 19 months in barrel and produced at Quintessa’s state-of-the-art winery in Rutherford. The wine is powerfully focused, super defined, and persistent, and at $110, it’s, as James Suckling writes, “really something.”
