2018 ECO TERRENO ALEXANDER VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Eco Terreno came along right when we all started asking if there are any more exceptional domestic Cabernets under $30? As soon as it hit our glass, the wine decisively revealed beautifully concentrated, pure, and complex Alexander Valley fruit, perfectly polished and balanced. The project is the brainchild of Mark Lyon, former lead winemaker at Sebastiani Vineyards, and results from his years of experience with Alexander Valley fruit and focus on biodynamic farming and sustainability.

Eco Terreno is a biodynamic winery in Alexander Valley that was founded with nature as the number one priority because, with a healthy environment, delicious wines thrive. Legendary, former lead winemaker at Sebastiani Vineyards Mark Lyon had an epiphany one morning while watching a man in a hazmat suit spraying fungicide while a small bird was foraging for food. That image never left his mind, so his vines, wines, and practices reflect environmental responsibility foremost.

In the summer of 2012, Mark toured Bordeaux and became entranced by the subtle nuances in each wine he tasted; he markedly noted the flocks of birds circulating the organically farmed vineyards in the famous region. Mark made his 2018 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon to reflect and incorporate all of the aspects of the Alexander Valley terroir, the incredible vintage, and the echo of the voice of the small bird that inspired Eco Terreno’s foundation.
