Andes Plateau results from a tireless search along the Andes Mountains in Chile to find terroir capable of producing balanced wines with remarkable character and sense of place. It was the dream of Felipe Uribe, who earned a Master’s degree in Viticulture and Enology at the University of Madrid before making wine in Chile and working at La Crema in the US. He makes his Cabernet in a bright, fresh, balanced style that’s embedded with fine details and outlined in elegance. At $19.99, it packs serious value.

Felipe tastes a wide selection of grapes in the vineyard, before harvesting early and by hand to preserve the fruit’s freshness and brighter acidity. He ferments with native yeasts and barrel ages for just ten months, which results in a pure expression of the fruit.

The winery’s seven acres of vines are grown in alluvial soils, transported by the river, and contain a mix of gravel, sand, and silt. The elevation combined with the well-drained earth help produce powerful berries and a lucid glimpse into Maipo Valley terroir..

"Fresh cherry and raspberry aromas seem natural and not crowded out by heavy oak. A fleshy palate with plummy weight features ripe berry and cassis flavors that finish bright and fresh, but a little short. Drink now through 2022." 91 Points
"The 2017 Cota 500 is pure Cabernet Sauvignon from Cachapoal from a warm year that saw an early harvest of the alluvial vineyards. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in used French barrels for 11 months. The wine is 13.7% alcohol, and it seems to have some more acidity than the previous year I tasted. It feels very fruit-driven, with the oak perfectly integrated with the fruit, and it has classical notes of graphite. There is a stony sensation on the palate that is more a texture than a flavor." 90 Points
"Elegant wine with red fruits, spices and black pepper notes. In the palate it shows great tannin structure and freshness that makes it vibrant and easy to drink. Thanks its acidity, it becomes a versatile wine that can be combined with a wide variety of flavors and foods."
