2014 PHILIP TOGNI “ESTATE” CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Spring Mountain’s wine equivalent to an Iron Man Race… Philip Togni’s legendary Estate Cabernet Sauvignons have a proven track record to make strides for more than 30 years. Utterly breathtaking, disarmingly provocative aromas of pulverized blue and black fruits, roasted coffee beans, black currants and espresso swim from the glass with olympic precision. At a recent tasting event in Brussels, Togni’s 1990 Cabernet outperformed iconic Bordeaux producers, Château Latour, Margaux, Haut-Brion and Mouton to list a few… Earning 94-97 points from Antonio Galloni, we don’t expect the 2014 to be available for long.
A pinnacle on Spring Mountain, Philip Togni’s Estate vineyard is perched at 2000 feet in elevation and produces fruit of stunning qualities. Immensely complex, endless layers of black raspberries, pressed mulberries, licorice, mocha and cassis are intertwined with veins of volcanic minerals. With flavors that glide to a seemingly endless finish, the 2014 is classic Togni, and one of the best ever from this iconic producer.

2014 PHILIP TOGNI "ESTATE" CABERNET SAUVIGNON
From Vinous, "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is wonderfully savory and mineral, with a host of graphite, liquefied rock, floral and dark stone fruit notes that open up in the glass. Energetic, crystalline and beautifully focused throughout, the 2014 exudes class from the very first taste. Stylistically, it is a bit less generous than the 2013 was at the same stage in its life. This hypothetical blend is every bit as striking as the individual component lots suggested when I tasted them this past spring. Philip Togni adds that a larger than normal crop stretched out the harvest. Today, the 2014 is shaping up to be another uber-classic wine from Togni...Congratulations to Philip, Birgitta and Lisa Togni for a truly stellar set of wines. No one is more deserving of this success than Philip Togni, who has made some of the all-time great Napa Valley Cabernets going back to the late 1960s. Lisa appears to be poised to do the same as she takes over the family estate from her parents." 94-97 Points
