2014 ACUMEN “MOUNTAINSIDE” PROPRIETARY

In life, it’s a special feeling when you make a discovery that will later go on to have an impact on your being. That’s how I feel about Acumen, a wine that I introduced to you in 2015 with their inaugural 2010 vintage, and forecasted the wine was destined for success. The wine was authored by world-renowned winemaker Denis Malbec, who at the time had already authored numerous perfect 100 point wines at legendary Bordeaux house Château Latour, as well as Kapcsandy Winery in Napa Valley. Tragically Denis passed away in 2016, leaving behind a wonderful family and a legacy of profound wines.
Arising from the majestic, volcanic terroirs of Atlas Peak, Denis utilized all five Bordeaux varietals in this classic and memorable blend. Resting for 18 months in oak barrels, the 2014 bears otherworldly complexity, yielding vivid notions of crushed rock minerality, graphite, intense blackberry and cassis. If you love Mountainside Blends, this one is undoubtably for you…

2014 ACUMEN "MOUNTAINSIDE" PROPRIETARY RED, NAPA VALLEY
Winery Notes: “This full-bodied wine starts with fragrant aromas of black cherries, English roses, mocha, sweet earth, and fresh blackberry pie. On the palate, we find mouth-coating flavors of blueberries, Santa Rosa plums, and baking spices with a pleasant grip of ripe tannins coupled with notes of toffee, rhubarb compote, fresh sage and cigar box on the long and pleasant finish”
